Steve Jobs’ “How to Live Before You Die”
I just finished watching Steve Jobs’ 15 minute speech to the grad class at Stanford in 2005, and gained some insight into why this man is one of the most respected businessmen on earth.
Steve shares 3 amazing stories from his life, each with a highly valuable lesson…check it out for yourself. There is much wisdom, but see what the most powerful concept you get out of it is, and feel free to share with a comment below!
What gripped me most was how Steve Jobs looked in the mirror every day for the past 30 years and asked “if today were my last day, would I do what I’m about to do today?” He then says that “whenever the answer has been no too many days in a row, I know I need to change something”.
Reminding ourselves daily that we are going to die, possibly today, tomorrow, or next week, is incredibly powerful!
If you were to die tonight, would you do what you’re doing today? I wouldn’t…but I’m working on changing that.
I haven’t watched the video yet, but this rings true to my heart. Last summer a guy I knew passed away from a cliff diving accident. He was 26. The thing is he was changing his entire life. He quit his job as a plumber, sold his house, and moved back in with his parents so he could afford to go to a Christian university. It seems unfair to me that God would take him away right when he was making the change, but it really underlined the fact that we need to act now!
1 Thessalonians 5:2
“for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night”
Loving the biblical quotes my friend, and thanks for being such a loyal follower! That really is too bad about your friend, but at least he was making the necessary changes in his life so that he could truly live before he died and do the things he wanted to do. Absolutely we need to act now…there’s no time like the present!
P.S lets hang out soon.
